"It's not
easy being a parent in the 21st century. There are so many demands
on our time and energy - work, household, raising children - and
there are still just 24 hours in the day"
Our children
face daunting challenges as well. Florida's youngest residents rank
36th in the country in overall health and well-being. The number
of children living in poverty increased 14 percent over the last
decade. WUFT/WJUF-FM's new monthly talk show "The Village" will
tackle some of the toughest issues facing the state's children including
access to quality health care, child abuse and early-childhood education.
"The Village",
heard the last Friday of each month from 12:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m.,
is part of a larger community outreach effort by WUFT/WJUF and community
partner Child Care Resources Inc. It is funded by a grant from the
Sound Partners For Community Health, a project of the Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation and the Benton Foundation. Welcome to one component
of this outreach effort, "The Village Web". Check it out and let
us know what you think! Email me at tanya_ott@yahoo.com
