“Inside the 24-hour Clock” (December 29, 12:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m)
The economy is charging along, but increasingly parents of young children find themselves in jobs that do not compliment standard childcare arrangements. We’ll explore the various options available to parents who have to work non-standard hours. We’ll also examine a growing trend in two parent families where the parents work opposite shifts in order to avoid expensive child care – what’s the effect on marriage and family cohesion?
Guest Biographies
JEAN JOHNSON
Public Agenda -- Director of Programs and Senior Vice President

Ms. Johnson is the author or coauthor of numerous Public Agenda reports on a broad range of issues including public education, welfare and crime. She has played a central role in projects examining Americans' thinking on health care, freedom of expression and foreign policy. Ms. Johnson is intricately involved in Public Agenda Online, an information service for journalists and public policy professionals.

Prior to joining Public Agenda, Ms. Johnson was Resource Director for Action for Children's Television in Boston, where she authored a number of articles discussing the effects of television on children and adolescents.
A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, Ms. Johnson earned Masters degrees from both Brown University and Simmons College. She is a consultant to Sugal Records, a small classical music recording company based in New York.
